I love the anatomy and movement side of yoga. Yoga is a bit like an onion - you know it's got layers and that's what makes it so versatile!
Yoga is an individual journey and we all need different things at different times. You might be connected to chakras and chanting, you might not.
In this beginner course we will be focusing on anatomy, self awareness and moving with control.
I was obsessed with attaining specific postures and transitions when I started my practice. I raced to look like the others in the yoga classes I attended. It is a circle with no end in sight.
There is no trophy or winner’s circle in yoga. Yoga is not a race, not a competition.
Each one of us is on our own special, unique journey. Accepting where you are now on this journey, will make it so much better.
We will explore breathing and meditation to expand, calm and control the mind. You will understand the muscles used for breathing. Explore yoga philosophy and WHAT yoga is. Posture clinic: Cat/cow, savasana, sitting, table top & puppy pose.
We will start to include more movement and poses with the classic Sun A & Sun B. Exploration of the inner critic and loving kindness meditation. Posture clinic: tadasana, downward dog, forward fold, warrior I & plank.
We will start to flow more easily between poses focusing on transitions and the vinyasa. Arm strength and the anatomy of the shoulder will be developed. Posture clinic: warrior II, reverse warrior, extended side angle, triangle & pyramid pose.
This week is all about finding balance in our practice and in our mind. We will look at balancing postures and the use of the glutes. Posture clinic: tree pose, dancer's pose, half moon, revolved triangle & warrior III.
This week is all about the seated postures and alignment. We will explore the hamstrings looking at how to create more space in them but also how to strengthen them. Posture clinic: butterfly pose, runner's lunge, seated wide legged forward fold, pachimottonasana, janu sirsasana & dandasana.
This week is all about the hips and understanding them. We will look at creating more mobility and strength throughout the hip flexors. Posture clinic: lizard pose, frog pose, standing forward fold, pigeon pose, reclined pigeon & squat pose.
We will be taking a swan dive into what the core is, how to strengthen is and how to do so safely. We will explore the muscles that wrap around the torso. Posture clinic: boat pose, chair pose, side plank, forearm plank & locust pose.
We wait until we understand how to listen to our body, how to use the core to protect the spine and how to breathe before we begin working on backbends and deep twists. This week may be the most challenging for some. Posture clinic: bridge pose, wheel pose, camel pose, standing back bend, upward dog, plough, fish pose & seated twists.
Struggle to squat? Can't get comfortable in a back bend? Splits - NO WAY! Want to find more space, improve your yoga practice?
Finding more mobility and flexibility in the hips takes dedicated practice but the good news is it can be as little as 15 minutes daily to see progress! Everyone can do this and everyone can see change.
Living your life with more abundance starts with small steps that will help to quiet the critical voice inside your head. You're not alone. In this course I take you through some of the practices I do that help me maintain this positive and abundant mindset. Don't worry, some days it will slip but you never lose the progress you start making.

This course is for anyone who has NEVER done yoga or is relatively new to yoga. Perhaps you used to practice but it's been a while since you did regularly. It would also be a great challenge for anyone wanting to strip it right back and refresh the basics.
This is an 8 week course that requires you to engage for approximately 3 hours a week. You can of course spend more time on the classes and content but I would recommend a time commitment of at least 3 hours weekly!
No worries at all! The weekly coaching calls and Q&A sessions will be recorded and sent in the emails so you won't miss a thing. The live classes will be hosted on zoom. These will be recorded and saved in the weekly modules.
YES! You can go back to the video tutorials over and over again which increases the value. The coaching calls will be stored in the FB group and will live in the ANNOUNCEMENT section. You will have access to me via the Facebook group for questions and the live classes for the duration of the 8 weeks too.
